Get a taste of Jersey’s famous Pork Roll (or Taylor Ham) sandwich. It’s easy to make and absolutely out-of-this-world delicious!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 French baguette, cubed in about 1 inch pieces (67 cups)
  • 2 packages pork roll/Taylor ham slices (16 pieces)
  • 12 large eggs
  • 1 8oz. block cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  • Cook Pork Roll/ Taylor ham slices until brown, cool down, slice into quarters. Set aside.
  • Coat 9×13 baking dish with cooking spray. Arrange the bread cubes over the bottom. In a large bowl, beat the eggs and milk until incorporated. Add, Pork Roll/Taylor ham, cheese, salt and pepper, mix until well incorporated. Pour the egg mixture over the bread, making sure the liquid saturates the bread (and making sure that meat and cheese are evenly distributed). Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight or at least 8 hours.
  • Preheat oven to 350, remove the plastic wrap from the strata and bake until the top form light brown crust, 45-60 minutes.
  • Serve with ketchup and salt and pepper, or any of your favorite fixings.

Notes

Make sure that the dish you are using is going to withstand temperature switch, I took mine out of the fridge 1 hour before baking so it would warm up just a touch.
